16 JUL 2018: FMRS to co-chair NASA's MedRIN network

FMRS and the Cyprus University of Technology were selected to co-chair NASA's newly established MedRIN network.

The first meeting of the group took place in Chania on the13th and 14th of July 2018.

15 JUN 2018: The NOFFi was presented at the Technical Chamber of Greece

The National Observatory of Forest Fires was presented on a one day conference titled 'Earth Observation data and sustainable development'. The event that took place on the 15th of June 2018 at the Technical Chamber of Greece (TCG) premises in Thessaloniki was co-organised by the TCG and the InterBalkan Environment Center (i-BEC).

23 MAY 2018: FMRS is officially a member of the Hellenic Space Technologies and Applications Cluster (si-Cluster)

The Laboratory of Forest Management and Remote Sensing (FMRS) has become a member of the Hellenic si-Cluster. si-Cluster is an industrially-led and user-driven innovation cluster in Greece, which brings together private and public actors in the field of space technologies and applications.

24 APR 2018: FMRS participates at the 'Innovation in Agriculture' conference to be held in Moscow

FMRS participates at the X International Scientific and Practical Conference on Innovation in Agriculture. The event will take place in Moscow, Russia during the period 26-28 April 2018.

13 MAR 2018: FMRS participates at the 5th International Russian - Greek Student Conference

FMRS participates at the 5th International Russian - Greek Student Conference. The one day conference is co-organised by the Faculty of Agriculture, Forestry and Natural Environment of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the Agrarian Technology Institute of the People's Friendship University of Russia. During the conference ten Greek and Russian students are going to present their work related to 'Organic Farming' and 'Remote Sensing of Environment'.

17 JAN 2018: Bordeaux Sciences Agro students visit FMRS

A group of students from L'École nationale supérieure des sciences agronomiques de Bordeaux, France visited FMRS. During their visit the French students were informed about the National Observatory of Forest Fires (NOFFi) which is hosted by FMRS as well as about the other research activities of the unit.

06 DEC 2017: FMRS contributes to the Global Wildfire Information System (GWIS)

FMRS becomes a GWIS 'Partner and contributing organization'. The Global Wildfire Information System (GWIS) is a joint initiative of the GEO and the Copernicus Work Programs.

20 NOV 2017: FMRS presents NOFFi at the 2nd GEO GWIS / GOFC-GOLD Fire IT meeting

FMRS presented the Greek NOFFi (National Observatory of Forest Fires) at the 2nd GEO GWIS / GOFC GOLD Fire IT meeting that took place at Cumberland Lodge, Great Park, Windsor, Berkshire, UK during the period 20-23 November 2017.

 

25 SEP 2017: AUTh FMRS coorganised workshop with NASA and MAICh

FMRS collaborated with NASA and CIHEAM - MAICh in the organisation of the 11th EARSeL Forest Fires SIG Workshop titled 'New Trends in Forest Fire Research Incorporating Big Data and Climate Change Modeling'. The event that was sponsored by ESA took place at the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Chania between the 25th and the 27th of September 2017.

16 SEP 2017: FMRS participated at the Global Land Cover 30 Data Validation workshop

FMRS participated at the 'Global Land Cover 30 Data Validation' workshop that was organised by the National Geomatics Center of China in Beijing, China (14-15 September 2017). The 'Global Land Cover 30' is the Chinese contribution to GEO.
