FMRS contributes to GEO SB-02-C2 (Global Land Cover Validation and User Engagement) which is coordinated by the National Geomatics Center of China (NGCC).
FMRS and ELGO-DEMETER Cereal Institute were awarded the 3rd prize at the ‘SYNERGAZOMAI 2016’ competition for the ERMES FP7-Space project. ‘SYNERGAZOMAI’ is a competition organised by the TECHNOLOGY FORUM, which awards cooperations betweeen research institutions and the industry in developing innovative products and services.

Ioannis Gitas and Dr. Vince Ambrosia of NASA were invited to chair the “Natural Hazards Special Session” at the Fourth International Conference on Remote Sensing and Geoinformation of Environment – RSCy2016 that will take place in Paphos, Cyprus during the period 4-8 April 2016.
During our recent visit to Moscow we were fortunate to visit Consulate General of Greece in Moscow and meet with the Consul General Heleni Michalopoulou with which we had a very friendly and fruitful discussion.
The 2nd Annual Meeting of the ERMES FP7 project is hosted by FMRS at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki premises at Foinikas, Thessaloniki, Greece.
The ‘National Observatory of Forests’ and the ‘National Observatory of Forest Fires’ were presented at the one day workshop titled ‘Forestry: looking at the future’ that was co-organised by the Greek Forest Service and ELGO-DEMETER in Athens, as a part of the celebration activities of the International Day of Forests in Greece.
A number of actions aiming to strengthen the collaboration between FMRS (AUTh) and the Agrarian Technological Institute of the People’s Friendship University of Russia (PFUR) were recently agreed.
FMRS will visit the Agrarian Technology Institute of the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia. The visit follows the cooperation agreement that was signed between the two universities in April 2015.
